Engine Rebuild Project (April-August 2003)
Heads off/Blown Head Gasket
Engine in truck (basically complete)
Well the engine is out now and the heads are off as well. I believe I have found the culprit. Kind of is sad that I had to do this much work to fix one little problem. Hopefully it was worth it. I did learn a lot and now can remove an engine, from a van at that! Maybe I'll be able to fix some stuff up when as I put it back together too.

As you can see here there is rust forming on the inside of the cylinder indicating water was in there.

Here's another angle on the subject at hand.

Well from under here it looks like I didn't bend a rod after all, I hope anyways, it looks straight.

Wide angle of the whole bottom of the engine with oil pan off. Can clearly see oil pump and oil pump tube thing.

If anyone was wondering how I had the engine suspended in mid air. It's a home made rig.

Look there at that arrow. That
little rust splotch should look like the one on the right side. The messed
up splotch
that the arrow is pointing at indicated there was something wrong with the head
gasket.

Messed up head gasket.

Close up of it messed up.

Another view, you can see rust in cylinder and messed up gasket.

What the inside of the head looks like
where the water had gotten into the cylinder. It's the rusted one.
Sorry for blurry picture.

Sorry for blurry picture again, but there is... sludge in the bottom of oil pan. I also found a little water in there.
